Poetme
UX/UI
Poetme is a poetry app I created where those interested in poetry can not only read or listen to famous works, but works of their peers, and can publish their own poems to share with the community. Features also include the ability to annotate specific lines on all poems and comment on them, forums to have open discussions about all things poetry, daily suggestions tailored to your preferences, categorized works that fit a certain genre or mood, and a shuffle feature that provides a random poem to explore. Poetme is a world where poets and writers can come to collaborate, explore, learn, discover, and be inspired by works ranging from all time periods and world regions.
Not only did I design the user interface for the app, but I created the user experience as well through a thorough process of analyzing its competitors, solving app requirements and user needs, creating a flowchart of the inner workings of the app, and evaluating target audience and their goals. Furthermore, I analyzed three poetry apps and figured out what they were lacking and what features seemed to be working successfully. With this information, I was able to incorporate the most successful features into the app for poetry lovers and writers. Poetme is unique compared to its competitors because not only does it have personalized features such as being able to publish your own writings and bookmark your favorite authors and literature, but it also involves community and social interaction with its community feature that allows you to follow, like, comment, and annotate on others' poems. This app involves different senses with not only sight with clean design and entertaining visuals and photography, but also sound because it incorporates audio recordings that users can upload along with their poems.
